पुणे येथे निर्भय बनो यात्रा कार्यक्रमाला जाताना जेष्ठ पत्रकार निखिल वागळे यांच्यावर हल्लेखोरांनी जीवघेणा हल्ला केला. त्यांच्या वाहनावर दगडफेक, अंडीफेक, शाई फेक करून जेष्ठ पत्रकार निखिल वागळे यांना जीवे मारण्याचा प्रयत्न करण्यात आला. या घटनेचा निषेध व्यक्त करून सोलापूर येथे पत्रकार सुरक्षा समिती वतीने आंदोलन करून जेष्ठ पत्रकार निखिल वागळे यांच्यावर प्राणघातक हल्ला करण्याऱ्यावर तात्काळ कारवाई करण्यात यावी अशी मागणी करण्यात आली.
राज्यात दिवसेंदिवस पत्रकारावर होणारे हल्ले ,धमकी मारहाण प्रमाण वाढले असून महाराष्ट्र राज्यात पत्रकार सुरक्षित राहिलेला नाहीये. पत्रकारांवर जीवघेणे हल्ले होत असतील तर पत्रकारिता करायची कशी? असा प्रश्न उपस्थित झाला आहे.
